Keep toys organized

Diaper boxes for toy storage

Diaper boxes for toy storage

I've organized all our toys into sets. I buy disposable diapers in a big box every month, so I use the empty boxes to store each toy set, and all the sets are kept on the shelf at the top of our girls' closet.

Every day or two we bring out a new set and put up the one that's been out. This keeps things organized, and prevents boredom. It's like having new toys every few days! I've done this since they were babies.

Some of the sets we currently enjoy are: farm (this includes some farm-themed baby toys for our new baby), play kitchen (play food, a mini play kitchen, electronic toy appliances), wild animals (includes a Noah's Ark play set, big plastic bugs & a play camping set), and a more miscellaneous box containing a few Little People sets, plus a Potato Heads family & a doctor kit.

The smaller girls seem to enjoy these sets even more if I lay out a blanket or play mat on the floor and set everything up around it for them.

We also have some favorite toys that are always out - baby dolls, strollers & babycare stuff, and a big dollhouse for the older girls.

P.S. The empty diaper boxes are great for tons of other uses, too - storing clothing, a sock bin, packing for a day trip or a potluck, etc... They even have slots that function as handles!

Printer paper boxes
by: Shirley

Hi Faith

That's a great example of putting boxes to good use. Here in South Africa we don't get diapers in boxes, but printer paper boxes could work just as well.
